Official Wii U US Price

Official Wii U US Price

So here are the official launch prices of Nintendo’s Wii U gaming console. Not too expensive but not cheap either. I just hope there’s quality pats inside this next generation gaming console that will last us a decade (like the previous generation gaming consoles). The Basic set (8GB) will be $299.99, this includes; Wii U console, GamePad, HDMI cable, sensor bar, AC adapter. The Deluxe set (32GB) will be $349.99 and is the same as basic, plus GamePad charging cradle, stand for GamePad and console. The deluxe version also includes Nintendo Land.

  1. Absolutely No One says:

How many games, on a rough estimate, could 8 gigabytes hold? How many gigabytes did the original Wii have?

    • 8 gigabytes could a relative amount, it could hold 2 times the amount as an Xbox 360 4gb. To put in perspective, the Wii only had 512 MB, 1/2 gb.

  2. While I don’t expect Nintendo Land to be that great of a game, the extra internal memory, and the Premium Download whatever, on top of the Black color scheme, and the option to set the Wii U in vertical position rather than horizontal all more than justify my shelling out the extra $50 for the deluxe edition.

  3. Pre-Ordered my Black Deluxe Wii U and Super Mario Brothers U. I may get a couple more games and maybe an extra control pad if they become available for sale/pre-order.

    • The extra Control Pad will not be available at launch in the States. Due mostly to the fact that there will be no games utilizing a second gamepad at launch, NOA felt it better to put their efforts elsewhere for the launch.

  4. Pre-ordered mine as well. Waiting to pre-order any games till more details about this Deluxe Digital Service are out. In Japan, anyone who buys the Deluxe model will get 10% off on any games they download. It sounds more like the State side version is just going to give us points which can then add up to yet another download eventually.

Either way, I’m downloading everything and anything I can.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge proponent of physical copies of the games, but I’m also a frugal man who never sells off his games. Lend them to friends, of course, but I never sell them. This is probably the only way I was going to be swayed into going digital.

  5. Just wait a few more months… You will see how they release a 64GB version then a 128GB version. It’s like they do it only to annoy original buyers.

    • I don’t see why?
I would rather have a smaller harddrive on the Wii U as it doesn’t use any proprietary external memory.

This way I can add as much memory as I would like for way cheaper than they would be offering it.

If not for all the sweet stuff that comes with the deluxe edition over the base, I would have considered saving the $50. But when you bundle in a $60 game and more… who would get the base unit?

  6. Nintend-to-the-ohhhhhh!!!!

  7. Has anyone else noticed that the Pre-order tab on this site is still under construction…as all the pre-orders have now come and gone.

    oops.

  8. Meanwhile in Europe we are getting ripped of again.
The premium WiiU will cost 350 EUR, wich is 458 USD.
And the games will be priced at 60 EUR, wich is 78.5 USD!
But that is still better than PS3. When it released here in Belgium, it was 499 EUR… :o

  9. i love this console but i hope rite when i get it they will have a blue green and all different color to choose from plus the price of a 3ds dropped almost half in just a couple months i hope that doesn happend withh thwe wii u

  10. i meant i hope not

  11. will it take wii games
