Assassin’s Creed 3 On The Wii U?
Excellent news for gamers earlier today with Ubisoft announcing the release of Assassin’s Creed 3 scheduled for the 30th of October 2012. “We will push the title a lot because it’s a fantastic product that the team has been working for three years what we have seen is just fabulous”, said Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot during an investor call.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations was the fourth highest selling game of November 2011 with an estimated 1.26 million sales, as of this month the game has sold 7 million copies worldwide.
The million dollar question is; Will it be on the Nintendo Wii U?
Nintendo should really being pushing for it. Assassin’s Creed is one of the best franchises in gaming at the moment, securing a release on the Wii U would show gamers Nintendo are serious about the Wii U being a viable option to the next Playstation and Microsoft consoles.
Ubisoft haven’t been the most straight forward with regards to their support of the Wii U, upon the Wii U release Yves Guillemot had the following to say:
“I love that you have a screen very close to you,you can get information and send it as well. But you don’t have to learn too many things.I think it’s sending the message that the new transition is going to happen – and we’re going to have new machines coming soon”.
“Our teams are excited to take advantage of this new console. This controller is so revolutionary we think it will bring a lot of new gamers into the industry, I think social gaming is the next step in our industry, and I think the screen is going to make it easy for everybody”.
Unfortunately those words haven’t translated into confirmation of many Ubisoft-developed Wii U games other than Ghost Recon, titles such as Far Cry 3 look as if they will be snubbed.
However, we believe Assassin’s Creed 3 will find its’ way on to the Wii U, as mentioned earlier Ubisoft have planned for a release on the 30th of October. We have narrowed the Wii U release date down to around November which would coincide nicely with the release of Assassin’s Creed 3. The dates of the Wii U release and Assassin’s Creed 3 release doesn’t really provide enough evidence of a Wii U title but Guillemot has labelled the game “the biggest launch in Ubisoft history”. Surely the ‘biggest launch’ in Ubisoft’s history will mean releases on all major consoles? After all , Ubisoft are supporting the PS Vita launch with 5 titles!

Loved Assassins creed one but wasnt the biggest fan of number two, dont know why though and i assume many ppl would disagree with me?
No no I TOTALLY agree wiTh you. Huh…funny..and I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I think because by ac2 it already got repetitive and old. It’s funny because I don’t even have ac1 anymore but I own the sequel. And I think if we find out the release dates for the upcoming games for the wii u like ghost recon; we can probably make a good guess when the wii u might come out.

but AC2 = Masterpiece

Well, they were talking about Assassin’s Creed for the Wii U in the E3 conference video, so it most likely is coming to the Wii U.

I for one haven’t touched an assissin creed game just because, it’s never been a choice for nintendo so if we do get Ac3 for the wii u that would be fabulous. I have looked at the game and I just can’t seem to get over the fact that it reminds me of prince of Persia lol.
Actually I believe that ac spawned from pop. It take similar gameplay such as extreme platforming with action and integretated it with an assassins type storylinem I’ve always thought tis especially since after ac pop games pretty much disappeared. I thoink I read somewhere although I can’t confirm this or the validity of the source that ideas about ac started coming in when ubisoft realized that it wasn’t really pop anymre. Either way,the link is clear whether oir not its that direct but I would like to see pop games with ac released.
I’m always skeptical when games get more than one sequel.
So many great gaming series just tended to go down hill on or after the 3rd game. It’s actually quite rare that a game can span that many games while still retaining both it’s identity and simultaneously reinventing itself enough to justify a new release.
I’m not going to go into specific titles because there is always going to be someone who fell so in love with a particular franchise that they can not admit that it did any wrong in their eyes. But the lack of sales and the discontinued nature of those franchises tells the tale.
If AC3 is a great game that continues to hold it’s roots while invigorating the series with new ideas, then great! If it’s just AC2 in a different place or something that has nothing to do with the rest of the series you can keep it.
AC3 would be a good addition to the wii u. though if it gets on, ubisoft will have to re-release the first 4 games to they system as well. they could easily do that by creating a bundle package of AC1, AC2, ACB, and ACR. AC3 can the be released as a separate title. the graphics of the wii u are very much capable of supporting the AC series, and it will reach a wider audience.
Slightly concerned. I was just in a Gamestop and there are no whisperings about the Wii U. Will we really get a 2012 release?
