Wii U App Store & More
Wii U App Store
According to thedaily.com , Nintendo plans to have an app store for the Wii U:
“Wii U owners will be able to use apps that operate on the Wii U itself, such as MLB.TV, and others that run independently on the Wii U’s controller. Given its tablet-like design and 6.2-inch screen, it’s not hard to imagine being able to check email, browse the Web, post to social networks and even get some gaming in.
It’s unknown whether Nintendo plans to monetize its app store with a points system, which it currently uses for WiiWare and DSiWare, or with a more Apple-like pay-to-play system.”
Wii U E-Book
As well as an app store there a rumours of an e-book type of service where users can download books, magazines, newspapers, comics, and other publications to their Wii U console.
“Publications would stream to your Wii U controller’s touchscreen, and you could go lay in your bed or couch and read them. The touch screen would be used to flip through pages of an e-book or magazine, and there would even be a searchable index. My source also told me that people with a 3DS will share the Wii U’s e-reader service, and it will be able to download books, magazines, newspapers, and comic books too. You can zoom in and out of text and graphics. Nintendo wants Wii U and 3DS to share certain services the same way Iphone/Ipad share services.”
Some interesting news, given the rise of downloadable content an app store could be great for the Wii U.

Dont cear about this at all
I am looking forward to this and Nintendo keep up the good work
So this is their competitve advantage over Sony & Microsoft?
Yeah, this will be the only difference between Nintendo and Sony/MS new systems. That’s right.
Oh, most definitely.
very interesting n a good move by nintendo if this is true. never under estimate nintendo. as much as they piss off us hardcore gamers, I believe they will suprise us with this system n plus with the casual market the sky the limit. sony n microsoft should pay very close attention. here’s y if the rumors r true: origin n steam support with a tablet controller? forget about the big name companies because imo they were lazy with wii (zelda proved that) indie developers could really help this console shine. plus with the big name titles of nintendo n hopefully better third party support, I won’t b suprised if they come out on top again ..
Neither will I really. They have a good chance with this one, but we have yet to see what Sony and Microsoft have up their sleeve as far as next generation consoles go. PS3/Xbox360 are getting quite dated now. A bit more RAM and a modern GPU could keep those consoles in the running but now Nintendo is the biggest kid on the block powerwise… Again!
I downloaded super mario world on my wii, will I be able to play this on the wiiu? Will it transfer to the wiiu from my wii? Is this the right place to ask this question?
Yup.
This is Wii U shit it is retarded and stupid cause you cannot connect it to the usual Nintendo Wii!Satoru Iwata is an idiot and retarded person!!!!!!
Dude…it still uses the SD card system. Im gonna jump off a ledge and say that itll be able to connect to the wii. Nintendo is big on stuff like that and dont sell them short at all. They new the wii was going to be for a certain crowd and if you noticed their systems were on a planned schedule of who they were targeting. Wii: Families Wii fit: adults 3ds: families and some pretty awesome care gamer stuff. Wii U: The world. Nintendo has spent so much money on this system it will make the ps3 and 360 look like rocks in comparison. Nintendo does know what they are doing when it comes to the finer things and overall console quality.
