Wii U Updates Poll Results

Wii U Updates Poll Results

In this month’s Wii U Updates poll results, we asked you what is the maximum price you’d pay for Nintendo’s next generation gaming console. Since Nintendo launched their Nintendo Wii gaming console back in 2006 with a relatively cheap price tag (in comparison to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which were released shortly after), consumers have been expecting Nintendo to price the Wii U at a similar launch price. However, with the patents that have recently been leaked, it seems that Nintendo have an uphill battle with the console price which would presumably include the Nintendo Wii U touchscreen controller with each console sale.

An astonishing 1,145 Wii U fans have voted in this month’s poll with the majority opting for the cheapest option – $250 RRP (Recommended Retail Price). With the least amount of votes coming in for the most expensive gaming console option – $400+ RRP.

Official Wii U Updates Results:

  • $250 RRP (34%, 386 Votes)
  • $300 RRP (33%, 372 Votes)
  • $350 RRP (22%, 255 Votes)
  • $400+ RRP (11%, 130 Votes)
A quite obvious pattern developed over the last month, showing strong support for a cheap gaming console. Of course we want a cheap console, but at the same time we want the best possible components, lets hope Nintendo can deliver both of these to us with the Wii U. Here’s to being optimistic!
Now to launch our next poll for you Nintendo Wii U fans! Now that we’ve got a fair amount of information on the upcoming Nintendo Wii U, we’ll be asking you; Are you going to be pre-order the Nintendo Wii U?

Wii U Updates Poll #3- Are you going to pre-order the Nintendo Wii U?

  • Yes, I’m going to pre-order the Wii U.
  • Yes, I’ll buying the Wii U but won’t be pre-ordering.
  • No, I won’t be buying or pre-ordering the Wii U.
Leave your comments below and tell us why you have chose your specific option! Cheers and stay tuned for the latest Nintendo Wii U News and Wii U Updates!
  1. Wii U Guru says:

Of course i’m going to be pre-ordering the Wii U, but it seriously depends on if Super Smash Brothers Universe will be ready. An updated or re-vamped Mario Karts bundled with the Wii U console on launch date would also be suffice :)

    Oh and if it’s over $400, I won’t be pre-orderings :P

  2. I will pre-order if I get some bonus things, something lame like a hat won’t do though lol.

  3. At least we know by the time Sony or Microsoft release their consoles, the Wii U would be significantly cheaper (by then).

  4. Thunderfitz says:

I don’t know if I’ll be getting a Wii U yet. It’s still soon, but Nintendo has yet to impress me.

I need to see an online multiplayer experience that meets the standard set by Microsoft.

I need to see the top tier games from PS3 and Xbox 360 released at the same time without giving up features.

I need to see that games don’t require use of the tablet controller. If it’s not comfortable, I won’t enjoy it. I never liked the Wii-mote, and that ruined a lot of potentially good games for me.

    • nintendo911 says:

If you do some research, you would know that in recent interveiws nintendo has decided to scrap their friend code idea. Instead, they would be aiming for an experience similar to that of the xbox 360 multiplayer. They have also hired an unnamed company to set up their online service.

Features won’t have to be given up. The RAM of the wii u has already been said to be 50% more powerful then that of the PS3. If anything, features wiil have to be given up when ported from the wii u to xbox 360 or playstation.

      • Thunderfitz says:

I’ve read about the plans for their online play. For now, it’s a vague concept that hasn’t been fully explained to the public. It could be great, it might be great, but I’m still waiting to see what they finally roll out.

Just because the Wii U is more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3 doesn’t mean that features may not be left out. Microsoft often gets exclusive content for cross platform games, or they get content sooner than the PS3.

When I speak about features, I’m also concerned that third party developers may not put the effort into the Wii U version because the initial player-base is going to be significantly smaller.

A few months following the release of the Wii U, there will be 40+ million Xbox360′s and 40+ million PS3′s and likely 10 million Wii U consoles.

Are there going to be features that are easier to develop based around a traditional controller? Will third parties put extra effort to utilize the tablet? Will they take extra cheap gimmicky shortcuts that act as subtraction by addition?

I’d rather have a direct port of a great game than a poor adaptation of a game that fails to utilize the tablet in an effective manner.

  5. Bundled with Mario Galaxy 3, Wii U Sports and it’s on big time!

  6. Thunderfitz says:

The eight generation of home video game consoles will likely consist of the Wii U, the Playstation 4 and the successor to the Xbox 360. I believe that this will be the last generation of consoles as we know them. Smartphones partnered with the fastest mobile internet will insure this.

Imagine your subsidized $200 smartphone outputting bleeding edge hyper-realistic games at 1080p to your 65” flat screen. Imagine a hundreds of players from around the globe on screen all at once; lag free at 5G+ speeds. Imagine that internet connection that runs exponentially faster than the limited broadband offered today.

Imagine if local hardware wasn’t even the restricting factor. What if, instead of upgrading your phone, the service from which your stream your games from simply updated their servers to play more advanced games on higher settings with a better frame rate?

That means making the jump from PS2 to PS3 graphics requires you to do nothing. This is where gaming will be in 2020. Accessories to gaming are the future, not consoles. Watch the current generation of handheld portables and see how their sales compare to the last. That’s what will happen to consoles in the following generation.

    • Wii U Type R says:

Im scared that you’re correct to be honest. I’ve seen Infinity Blade 2 for the iPhone 4S and those graphics rivals that of any game i’ve seen. It’s quite scary that our future generation of kids might not ever own a gaming console

    • Im picking up what you’re laying down, but….the kids that will be in 2020 are the kids from my generation (roughly) as in procreated not us lol…I’ll be an old fart. But there is a lot coolness to having consoles and being able to have them on display. I think its still in us and will be for years to come to want to go to the product. I love to shop online and via droid market but nothing compares to having a bag of goodies in my hand. I think when u have it in your hand its a sense of ownership. This also depends on their upbringing. I dont know tough call really. Either way it could go, wouldn’t really surprise me either way lol. That’s the cool thing about technology. Don’t think in 8 years though consoles will be out. Jus sayin ;-)

  7. the only games i liked on the 360 and ps3 are the cross platform ones i would of got ALOT more wii Games if they were over all more powerful
not that they were all bad it just seemed that only the REALLY well made were the ones that were good enough to not feel old by the time they came out
So yeah im geting a wiiu it seems really cool, intresting and fun :) I’m not worried

  8. Won’t buy it until it reduces price and comes in black. It gets to me that I got a lame white Wii, then a few months later a cool black one comes out. Also, I won’t get it unless SSB4 is epic and they release a real time fire emblem (hopefully).

  9. I will definitely pre-order regardless of bonuses and of the price tag. Nintendo looks to be trying to move this console into the future and it’s looking bright to me. Why is everyone so skimpy on the price? $250 for a console? Are you joking me? We’re still paying $250 – $300 for a console now, how are companies supposed to improve their hardware and give us more if they can’t build them up to snuff or price them accordingly? A $400 price is fine by me if the system is worth that much. Build it right and I will pay, just as I did with PS3 and I was never disappointed.

If the system costs $250, It will be worth that much, $400 means we’re moving forward in terms of hardware and that’s perfect for me, maybe it will clear out some of the gamers who bought the Wii for one game! I want 3rd Party support and a flow of games that don’t suck. Not 2 good games a year. I’ll pay $400 bucks for that!
